Our Living World – Compassion in Action

In this world right now, there are unfortunate people and especially children trying to survive in extreme poverty, dying of malnutrition and disease every few minutes. Some are being sold into slavery, while others are in extreme terror, living in war-torn countries trapped by their doctrines of needing to be arrogantly right, fighting for causes that may see them all die young. These people would happily live off our meager table scraps, who would willingly use our old furniture, who would be grateful for our worn clothes, and who would happily sleep on the dry floor of our quiet garage.

These people and children are not focused on the latest technology or advancements as that won’t protect them, the latest iPhone won’t keep them from getting hungry and a wireless laptop means nothing when you are illiterate, malnourished, sick or dying . . We need to control ourselves… as we ignorantly take our abundant existence for granted and worry about stupid things that are not life threatening.

At what point in spiritual evolution will we use our greater awareness to help humanity and make a difference in these realities? That things are the way they are, doesn’t make it right, nor does it mean they have to stay the same. We could all make a difference if we were willing!

As a global family united in our common humanity, we are still making the same mistakes. We are still caught up in our own needs to be bothered to help our fellow man. Where is the honor in that? Am I not the only one who feels and thinks this way? Where is the wisdom of the ages of mankind within our governments and laws? Where is it written that some will be rich and some will be poor? Obviously, when we hear words that speak of equality within humanity, it is only a spiritual ideal, when realized, based on everyday life in caring for the well-being of others.

Imagine how easy it could be to change the status quo if only our world leaders were willing?

I care about our world and everyone in it, I care enough to speak my truth, so I publish the written words that will hopefully pierce the heart of humanity, enough to make some contribution to healing their huge mistakes. I spread words of peace and love, words of wisdom that the soul is greater than the intellect. That all people have the right to live as they see fit as long as it does not harm anyone. I believe that one day, it will happen… that the world will become a better place for our children, children, children. Somehow we can fix the mess our forefathers have made of things and move on from senseless wars and stop poverty by educating the illiterate and creating whole new ideals and consciousness that truly serve our global community and humanity at large. big

Join my team as we heal the world with compassion; it takes an act of love and kindness at the same time! A practice we could all adopt and add to our daily lives. What act of compassion have you done today? we want to know If you have a small foundation or charity that is working for a better world, we want to hear about it. Contact S’Roya by email and share your story. How are you contributing to making the world a better place for the less fortunate?

Siddhartha Foundation UK, True Compassion in Action

I recently met a very interesting lady named Dechen Chodron, who told me about a foundation she and a few others had set up to help poor and homeless children stranded in the Himalayas. Dechen told me how the Siddhartha Foundation UK was set up in 2006 by a group of 5 friends living in Somerset, after being inspired by Lama Khenpo Chimed Rinpoche, a kind, wise and compassionate Buddhist teacher from Kathmandu to Nepal. . Khenpo, (as he is known to his friends and students) has brought peace and comfort to many in both the East and West with his Tibetan Buddhist teachings. At the same time, it has spread awareness of the plight of thousands of children of Tibetan origin in Nepal, where extreme poverty prevents them from receiving any form of education in their own tradition.

Bringing hope to the children of Nepal’s Himalayas and Tibet

The administrators are: Michael and Lynne Orchard, Dechen Chodron and Adrian Beckingham, who are assisted and supported by Rita Hraiz.

Between them, the founders have skills in charity management, business, education, social work, culture and arts, media and finance.

“We all give our time for free,” says Dechen, “as do all friends and supporters of the Foundation.” This helps keep overhead costs to a minimum, thereby maximizing the amount of donation that goes directly to the welfare of children in Nepal.

His mission

We will provide shelter and shelter to some of the poorest children in the Himalayan region of Nepal.

We will provide education, health care and emotional, physical and spiritual support for these children.

We will work to preserve the ancient wisdom of Tibet with a new generation of young people, displaced from their homeland.

We will strive to work with compassion, kindness, clarity and care at all times.

About Nepal

Nepal is one of the six poorest countries in the world with more than half of the population surviving on less than $1 or 50 pence per day.

Life expectancy is 10 years lower than in India and more than ten children die every hour from malnutrition and disease.

More than 85% of the population is illiterate.

Nepal is home to tens of thousands of refugees who have made a dangerous escape from Tibet through the high passes of the Himalayas. Despite their extreme poverty, the Nepalese are known for their hospitality, generosity and warmth of spirit.

The Siddhartha School, believes in love, care, health, education, the most precious gifts for a Himalayan child. With the help of a few generous benefactors, Khenpo has purchased land near Kathmandu and begun construction of a school, which will eventually be able to accommodate about 150 students. The school is managed by its founder Lama Khenpo Rinpoche, who personally oversees all aspects of student welfare and the running of the school.

Having seen the first buildings open with an initial intake of 80 students, the decision was made to actively support the project, setting up the Siddhartha Foundation UK to work closely with our Nepalese partners Siddhartha Foundation Nepal, which is a fund of registered non-profit aid. the project continuously.

The Dalai Lama of Tibet has personally supported Lama Khenpo’s work to help Himalayan children in this way…

Quote: “I truly appreciate the faith and dedication that Lama Khenpo has given to establish this school where the dharma can flourish. I, the Dalai Lama, ask everyone to support this project with all possible efforts. I send my prayers for it to be fulfilled. of all the noble wishes of Lama Khenpo” SS Dalai Lama.

The Siddhartha Foundation School, located near Kathmandu, brings a ray of hope and light to children who are lucky enough to get a place. All students come from poor backgrounds where basic health care and education are not available to them. Many of the students are orphans and for them the school provides a safe environment that is caring and welcoming. The school takes care of all the students’ needs, from food and clothing to medical expenses and the cost of educational materials. Students learn many things; Daily lessons mainly consist of English, Nepali and Tibetan languages, mathematics, meditation, philosophy, Tibetan art and culture, and physical education.

At the moment, Siddhartha School is only for boys, but soon (when funds allow) a school for girls will be built, as they believe in equal rights for both sexes. The Siddhartha Foundation is busy seeking funds also for the construction of a clinic, an infirmary and a dispensary, which will be made available and will benefit both students and villagers. I encourage you all to check out the great work of this foundation and support them in their mission, either by sponsoring a child or donating.
