All The Primary Teacher Resources You Need For A New Classroom

Every teacher worth their salt knows that finding the right resources for elementary teachers will make or break an early learning environment. And this fact is never more clear than in preschool and kindergarten classrooms, where student engagement and classroom organization are paramount to the success of your lessons.

But how do you find these truly golden resources without rummaging through your colleagues’ drawers, making your own with scissors and glue for days on end, or spending a lot of money on a variety of different graphics and kits that you don’t even have sure to do it? use?

Your local elementary school is an obvious choice, where you might expect dusty warehouses to be full of forgotten resources and brightly colored games that you can easily use… but that requires access to a school and good weather. to find what you’re looking for, which are two staples that many elementary teachers don’t have, especially if they’re starting a new teaching career.

In my experience as an elementary classroom teacher, teachers need their own collection of resources that can be quickly integrated into the classroom environment and adapted to a variety of subjects.

And without access to those dusty warehouses or the time to dig through piles of textbooks, cards, posters, and charts, I’ve always found that some of the best teacher resources can be found online.

For new elementary teachers, I would recommend gathering the absolute basic resources in classroom organization that can be adapted to any new classroom situation or a casual round, with the following must-haves:

– A series of laminated labels for various concrete materials around the classroom;

– A series of laminated calendars showing the days of the week, common weather icons, as well as days and months;

– A birthday board;

– Interchangeable schedules to show student news, sports days, chapel and other recurring events;

– Tables for math and reading groups;

– Rule reminder posters covering basic classroom etiquette, such as interrupting and other behavior reminders;

– A stack of blackline master observation logs and progress charts to maintain details of student work and behavior during class time;

– Newsletter, reading for parents or lunch lists for parents in the classroom;

– A basic literacy resource box and reading recovery worksheets/texts, early reader texts, picture books, phonics and literacy games such as word finding or hanging;

– Basic laminated number cards from 1 to 100 (or even just 1 to 20);

– Laminated letter and sound combination cards, as well as basic sight words for different reading levels;

– A series of plastic ring binders to keep everything;

– A stuffed toy, doll or other toy that can be used as a reward or behavior management tool; i

– Lots of paper, crayons, pencils, tapes, glue and other materials in case the school supplies are unreliable.

If this list seems long, don’t stress! When it’s all gone, it’s really just a box or basket full of stuff that you can keep in the trunk of your car until it’s time to set up your new classroom.

In addition, you will begin to build a larger collection of picture books, early reader texts, math programs, literacy or reading programs, online games, kinesthetic resources such as balls, felt blocks or boards, and materials of art that will truly transform your classroom into a rich and learning paradise.

So get cracking! Whether you make your own basic resources with a home printer, online icons, laminator and a stack of colored paper, or if you’re lucky enough to adapt existing templates to your needs, you’ll soon be well on your way to having A wealth of quality Primary Teacher Resources to get your classroom up and running.
