How The Internet Came to Be and Why It Adversely Affects You

Can you tell 1984 is about to happen? You’ve read the book and were probably made to read this one in high school or maybe college. The premise of this novel was very horrifying.

Let’s face it, everything we do is connected to the internet, every time you buy something at the grocery store, the internet is involved. All banking transactions are recorded on a solitary data server, which could be located anywhere in the world. Even when you use cash, that transaction is recorded somewhere on some server located in some server farm.

When you’re driving down the road and you’re caught speeding by a traffic camera, that’s also being recorded somewhere over the internet. When you walk into a mall, everything you do is caught on camera, using the Internet to allow someone to monitor your every move. All of this is recorded and saved forever or at least until the server crashes and isn’t backed up. Everything you say on social media is recorded and stored in some database and will never be deleted. In fact, certain social media giants license their software to us, knowing full well that everything you say and record becomes their exclusive property. You know who these social media giants are. But we continue to use its software and allow it to reside on our computers, collecting our personal insights and social feedback. It’s no wonder certain law enforcement agencies love these social media giants. Do you blame them?

According to some estimates, there are 1900 operational satellites orbiting the Earth, launched by 40 countries. How many of these are spy satellites? No one really knows except the countries that launched them. Think about it, the internet can be accessed via satellites. Do the math. Some search engines can give you access to satellite images that will show any town, village or city in the world, from the perspective of being on a street. This is not real time, but it is so far with the advances that are happening in computer technology and the Internet.

So we can see that the Internet is affecting us negatively, as it can be and is getting used to control everything we do. Privacy is going down the drain.
