Become a Stripper – Is It Worth It to Travel?

Every stripper in town will tell you that summers are notoriously slow. Inevitably, conversations in the dressing room then begin to revolve around traveling to another city for work. I’m sure you’ve heard or participated in some of these conversations:

Barbie: This club sucks. I’m going to Las Vegas. I heard Suzie went to Las Vegas and won big every night she worked.

Brandi: Yeah, I talked to Suzy too, but I heard she only won a grand one night and the other two nights she barely made her share of the house. Vegas is so overrated. But I heard Dallas was the new hot spot, lots of guys with oil money!

Sapphire: I’ll go to Vegas for fun and work for a couple of nights, as long as whatever I do pays for the trip.

Barbie: I have two kids, if I go anywhere I HAVE to make more money than here after paying for the hotel and plane ticket.

Brandi: I also read on the internet that Alaska has a lot of guys and no pretty girls, maybe we should go there!

Sapphire: Are there other things to do in Alaska besides work?

Brandi: I heard about this booking company that will pay for your hotel and airfare, but they send you to places in the middle of nowhere. Sometimes I wonder if the expense of traveling is worth it!

Three strippers, three different points of view. Whether or not the cost of the trip is worth it is entirely up to YOU. There are pros and cons to traveling, be sure to weigh them before you pack.

If you have a profit motive like Barbie, realize that traveling might not be the best solution. Although Las Vegas has the allure of getting the big prize of strip clubs, the clubs are oversaturated with girls. The overall costs of traveling also add up to more than the hotel and airfare; you also need to have money for the taxi fare or a rental car, and also for food/drinks. Las Vegas has the lowest travel costs from Phoenix. If you book your trip 14 days in advance, you can fly round trip for $120, rent a car for $20/day ($170/week with taxes and insurance) stay at a large casino hotel like Stratosphere for $40/night ($250/week) .

If you’re frugal and go to the grocery store instead of the 24-hour casino restaurant, you can stick to a food/drink budget of $20 a day ($140). I know that’s a lot of numbers I just threw at you, and if I don’t I don’t want to do the math, just believe me… I was an algebra teacher before I decided to become a SuperStripper. If you’ve been doing the math with me, the total cost of this week-long trip is $680. Other cities, like Dallas, are much more expensive.

Airfare to Dallas costs $250, a standard hotel room in a secure area will cost $80 a night ($560 a week), and rental cars are over $250 a week for economy class. So, assuming you stick to a food/beverage budget of $20 a day; your week-long trip to Dallas would cost $1200. By comparison, a basic hotel room in Manhattan is $150 per night, and a round-trip taxi fare is at least $25 per night. Once you include airfare and food, a week in the Big Apple can cost you at least $1500 (and I dare you to spend just $20 a day on food and drink in Manhattan!)

If you’re a data seeker like Brandy, you’ve probably already scoured the internet for the best information. Free online forums have a wealth of knowledge about most every club in the country. There are also booking agencies to arrange transport and accommodation on the way. This is a little different than being a regular house dancer in a major metropolitan area. Unlike Vegas and Phoenix where you just show up whenever you want…once you sign the contract you are expected to work every night of the reservation.

If you’re loose and free-spirited like Sapphire, the world is your oyster! One of the biggest advantages of being a stripper is that you can work ANYWHERE! If you’re not worried about making MORE money on your travels than you would at your home club, what are you waiting for? Pick a city you’d like to visit, search for strip clubs, and off you go!
