Greyhound Handicapping Trifecta Wagering Method Using Early Speed
I am going to explain my greyhound handicapping system. I mainly focus on ES or early speed. Open a results chart of any greyhound track and you will see that the dog that comes first at the 8th call will end up in the winning or placing position more than 80% of the time. No other factor comes close. This is only one factor and there are other factors to consider such as late speed, class, weather; i use daily track variants like beyer speed figures for horse racing. I have done the math and done my own calculations to calculate this factor and post the position. Each of these factors must be calculated for each track at each distance and each grade. It sounds like a lot of work and honestly it is. But it is because of this hard work that 99% of the public will not need the time and effort to do so. You don’t have to do all this work to make this method work for you. You have to be good enough to pick the dog that can reach the lead at the racecourse of your choice.
Back to factor #1 – ES (Early Speed). Say there are 15 races on a card for your circuit. Chances are you’ll only find a few playable races. A playable race is one in which you KNOW (although you can never know 100%) that a certain greyhound will take the lead. For example, an inside runner from an inside pole position. For this example we will use box #2. Look and you see this dog can break and if he takes lead he will hold on to win or place. Now you have to look at the positions of the adjacent posts and hopefully there are no running style conflicts like #1 going wide or #3 having a habit of breaking inside. So we found that the 1 dog is a slow breaker and the 3 dog is also slow and runs outside. No other dog in this race looks like it can beat your #2 dog in the turn. Well, you just found a playable career. I find usually in a 15 race card I can play 2-4 races. You have to have the discipline not to bet the other races. Only bet on those where you know you have an advantage. It goes to all other races. All that being said, I’m focused on eliminating the 2 worst dogs in the race and picking 2 more, one of which will be in the money. Then I use my trifecta betting method as such:
The 1 stands for my key dog. 2 and 3 are 2nd and 3rd options. etc.
$1 Three-Part Wheels 1/23/23456 $8 1/456/23 $6 1/23/23456 $8 456/1/23 $6 that’s a total of $28 per race. I have listed on my website my picks and results and the current winning percentage which is 71.4%. If you can hit more than 20% of your trifectas, you’ll make money, at least with this system. The hardest part is choosing the key dog. The 2nd hardest is choosing 2 dogs not to finish in the trifecta and for me the easiest is choosing 2 more dogs of which only one of them has to show at least. This is how I handicap and bet. I post selections randomly, usually for the Palm Beach Kennel Club. So far, I have always been able to submit my free picks on Saturday night for Sunday’s race card.
